Drainage and elimination of toxins: the essential routine in spring and fall. 

Naturally, the body continually eliminates toxic substances (or toxins) in order to avoid poisoning. Toxins can be found in many everyday elements: food, water, inhaled air (cleaning products, tobacco, perfumes, pesticides, fertilizers, pollution, etc.), medications, chemical dewormers or antiparasitics. 

It is good to point out that these toxins are not only the result of poor diet or lifestyle in general. The body must also get rid of the waste produced by its own operations. 

Our animal's body continues to accumulate and store all these toxins and unfortunately, in many cases, the quantity absorbed exceeds the elimination and filtration capacity of the emunctories.  

What are emunctories? 

The emunctories are organs allowing the body to eliminate its toxins: the liver, kidneys, skin, lungs, intestines are the main emunctories. 

However, in the event of obstruction or clogging of the latter, other parts of the body will also be affected: muscles, joints, bones, the urinary system, the respiratory system, the mucous membranes, the respiratory tract gastrointestinal… 

But also weak organs can be relieved of part of their toxins thanks to another organ which will take over (skin, lung) not without side effects. For example: digestive weakness (liver) leads to toxins which can be eliminated through the skin and therefore cause eczema. 

What is the risk of not draining/detoxifying the body? 

An accumulation of toxins could therefore lead to increasingly serious pathologies or symptoms (like a domino effect): itching, skin or ear infections, digestive disorders (diarrhea, vomiting, etc.), eczema, respiratory infections, 

When to practice detox or drainage? 

So that your animal can be at full strength (and therefore less sensitive to external aggressions) it must be rid of toxins accumulated during the year (food, pollution, pesticides, vaccines, medications, etc.) by draining the emunctories (skin, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, kidneys, etc.), ideally twice a year: in spring and fall.

The emunctories:

The liver : It is an organ whose role is, among other things, to filter the blood, to neutralize the toxins that the blood continually brings to it and to eliminate them.

The kidneys : They filter the blood and eliminate waste through urine, after diluting it in fluid. Urine is normally light yellow (lemon) in color, it becomes much darker and more abundant when the kidneys are overworked.

The skin : The skin is an organ in its own right, which constitutes a very important double door of elimination. Even if the elimination takes place very discreetly, the skin rejects waste in the form of crystals, through sweat, thanks to the sweat glands, and in the form of glues, through the sebum secreted by the sebaceous glands.

The respiratory tract : The main role of the respiratory tract is to eliminate waste in the form of gases. However, they can also release solid waste, such as phlegm or dust.

Why do you have to drain them?

In natural medicine, we often notice that the root cause of illnesses comes from too many toxins in the body.
