Drainage and elimination of toxins: the essential routine in spring and autumn. 

Naturally, the body continually eliminates toxic substances (or toxins) to prevent poisoning. Toxins can be found in many everyday elements: food, water, the air we breathe (cleaning products, tobacco, perfumes, pesticides, fertilizers, pollution, etc.), medications, chemical dewormers, or antiparasitics. 

It's worth noting that these toxins aren't just the result of poor diet or lifestyle in general. The body also needs to get rid of the waste it produces. 

Our pet's body continues to accumulate and store all these toxins and unfortunately, in many cases, the amount absorbed exceeds the elimination and filtration capacity of the emunctories. 

What are emunctories? 

Emunctories are organs that allow the body to eliminate toxins: the liver, kidneys, skin, lungs, and intestines are the main emunctories. 

However, if these become blocked or clogged, other parts of the body will also be affected: muscles, joints, bones, urinary system, respiratory system, mucous membranes, gastrointestinal tract, etc. 

But weak organs can also be relieved of some of their toxins thanks to another organ that will take over (skin, lungs) not without side effects. For example: digestive weakness (liver) leads to toxins that can be eliminated through the skin and therefore cause eczema. 

What is the risk of not draining/detoxifying the body? 

An accumulation of toxins could therefore lead to increasingly serious pathologies or symptoms (like a domino effect): itching, skin or ear infections, digestive disorders (diarrhea, vomiting, etc.), eczema, respiratory infections, 

When to practice detox or drainage? 

For your pet to be at its best (and therefore less sensitive to external aggressions), it is necessary to rid it of the toxins accumulated during the year (food, pollution, pesticides, vaccines, medications, etc.) by draining the emunctories (skin, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, kidneys, etc.), ideally twice a year: in spring and autumn.

Draining and detoxifying the body is a very good way to regain and maintain health!

The emunctories:

The liver : This is an organ whose role is, among other things, to filter the blood, to neutralize the toxins that the blood continually brings to it and to eliminate them.

Kidneys : They filter the blood and eliminate waste through urine, after diluting it with liquid. Urine is normally light yellow (lemon), but becomes much darker and more abundant when the kidneys are overworked.

The skin : The skin is an organ in its own right, which constitutes a very important double elimination gate. Even if elimination is done very discreetly, the skin rejects waste in the form of crystals, through sweat, thanks to the sweat glands, and in the form of glue, through the sebum secreted by the sebaceous glands.

Respiratory Tract : The primary role of the respiratory tract is to eliminate waste in the form of gases. However, it can also expel solid waste, such as phlegm or dust.

Why do they need to be drained?

In natural medicine, it is often noted that the root cause of illnesses stems from an excessive presence of toxins in the body. Toxins can come from diet or the environment (pesticides, chemical cleaners, etc.), or from taking medications, dewormers, etc. When toxins accumulate in the body, they tend to thicken the blood, deposit on the walls of blood vessels, and congest organs that must work harder to function properly.
